The James and Charlotte Gignilliat Scholarship is awarded annually to students descended from the Huguenots, Calvinists who immigrated to the United States from Switzerland or France prior to November 18, 1787. Depending on the number of winners, each student receives $500-$1,250.
The Gignilliat Scholarship is given to college undergraduates or graduating high-school seniors who attend or plan to attend a college or university full-time. In addition to a good academic record, applicants should show qualities of leadership and be involved in extracurricular activities. Financial need is not a factor in eligibility. Applicants must submit documentation of their Huguenot ancestry, a personal essay outlining their educational goals, a transcript, and three letters of recommendation.
