The South Carolina Historical Society has many collections that require re-organization, improved descriptions, and preservation in order to ensure that they are properly cared for and accessible to researchers. We need your help to move ahead with this work! The Adopt-a-Collection Program will use donations to facilitate preservation and repair of manuscripts as needed, and will also enable us to properly organize, inventory, and catalog collections so that researchers can more easily identify relevant materials.
Launched in the Fall of 2011, the collections we are highlighting for “adoption” are highlighted below. Of course, if you or someone you know has a special interest in a collection not featured here, please let us know!
|John Bennett Papers||Charleston City Directories|
|Vanderhorst Family Papers||Sandy Island Plantation Journals|
|Civil War Newspapers||Mary Brigaud Conveyance, 1691|
