February’s Family Program: Robert Smalls Day

Join us on Saturday, February 23 for a family-friendly event celebrating the extraordinary life of Robert Smalls! Families will learn about Smalls’s daring escape from slavery during the Civil War aboard the steamship Planter, which he piloted out of Charleston Harbor to the Union naval blockade, along with his return to his hometown of Beaufort, where he was elected to Congress. Children will also be able to build, decorate, and race model boats.

To ensure that we have enough supplies, we encourage you to register by contacting Bailey Knight at bailey.knight@schsonline.org.

This free family program is sponsored by Daniel Ravenel Sotheby’s International Realty.
