In the nineteenth century, Frederick Adolphus Porcher was one of the most prominent historians in South Carolina as well as a founder of the South Carolina Historical Society. However, only lately have modern scholars started to recognize Porcher’s significance as a southern intellectual and pay closer attention to his works. Learn about Porcher’s unpublished writings and new discoveries with SCHS Archivist and author Karen Stokes.
