Exhibit Highlights

The only rotating exhibit in the museum, this gallery focuses on agriculture, foodways, and the conservation of natural resources throughout the state. Items on display include the 1785 rules of the St. Thomas Hunt Club and an 1851 edition of the popular cookbook The Carolina Housewife.

Langdon Cheves
Langdon Cheves was a Charleston attorney, plantation owner, investor, historian, and genealogist. His papers include lists of wildlife spottings in the South Carolina lowcountry, many of which are beautifully illustrated.
