Join us the evening before the Fall Tour for a special lecture by American Battlefield Trust president James Lighthizer at the Santee Cooper McCall Auditorium (1 Riverwood Drive, Moncks Corner). Afterward, the SCHS will hold a reception at the Berkeley County Museum and Heritage Center (950 Stony Landing Road, Moncks Corner) and guests are welcome to visit the historic Fort Fair Lawn site, which includes a largely intact British-built Revolutionary War fort (see lordberkeley.org/fort-fair-lawn for more on its conservation). The lecture is free to attend, and the reception and tour are $50 per person.
Pictured, a 1789 plat of Fairlawn Barony depicts a "redout built by the British." On the cover, Strawberry Chapel is shown in an early-twentieth-century photograph. From the collections of the South Carolina Historical Society.
