Francis Marion Powder Horn, Ca. late 18th century
Tradition holds that this horn for gunpowder belonged to General Francis Marion. He learned the value of guerilla warfare while fighting the Cherokee in the French and Indian War. During the Revolution, he successfully used guerilla tactics, including ambushes and surprise raids, earning the nickname "Swamp Fox."
