January Lecture from Dr. O. Jennifer Dixon-McKnight

Join us for a lecture from Dr. O. Jennifer Dixon-McKnight on Thursday, January 22nd at 6:00pm at the Unitarian Church in Charleston (4 Archdale Street, Charleston, SC 29401). This event is co-sponsored by the South Carolina Historical Society and the Charleston Branch of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History.

Dr. McKnight is Associate Professor of History and African American Studies at Winthrop University. She will speak about her new book, We Paved the Way: Black Women and the Charleston Hospital Workers’ Campaign. Using interviews and oral histories, the book examines the 1969 strike by Black, female hospital workers through the lens of Black women’s activism.

This is a free event, but registration is required to secure your spot. The lecture begins at 6:00pm in the main sanctuary of the Unitarian Church in Charleston (4 Archdale Street, Charleston, SC 29401).
