The society’s catalog is the online portal through which SCHS members, staff, and researchers from around the world discover the society’s unique collections documenting South Carolina history. The online catalog provides descriptions of the society’s manuscripts, rare books, maps, visual materials and more, helping users identify relevant resources for their research. Starting today, June 1st, the society’s online catalog will undergo a makeover. Along with the College of Charleston libraries, with whom the SCHS has partnered with since 2011, and academic libraries across the state, the SCHS will be switching to a new online catalog. The new catalog will look slightly different but maintain the same robust search capabilities currently enjoyed by users. Users will still be able to access a search option for just SCHS collections on our website at schistory.org. Additionally, users will be able to seamlessly search collections from other institutions around the state, as the new catalog will include the libraries of PASCAL (Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries), including the libraries of the University of South Carolina, Clemson, and Furman. The current catalog will remain available to users through the migration to the new system, and staff are happy to answer any questions you may have about navigating the new online catalog.
